Levity is a Brighton based consultancy offering help to third and faith sector organisations in Sussex.
Founded by Lev Eakins in May 2014, Levity had one client at first; Brighton and Hove Faith in Action (BHFA) – a multi-faith charity Lev founded earlier that year.
Over the course of the next four years, Levity recruited 108 faith groups from 10 different faith traditions as members of the BHFA, accounting for over 70% of the faith groups in the city.
Levity helped the BHFA establish several partnerships that focused on social welfare issues in the city – Mental Health, Homelessness, and Combatting Faith Hate. Some of these partnerships were established through the bi-monthly Faith Council, an institution Levity helped the BHFA create and run from 2017.
In 2016 and 2018, the BHFA commissioned Levity to run a Celebrating Faith event, showcasing the social welfare and community development projects delivered by Faith groups.
At the 2018 event, the Brighton and Hove Faith Covenant was signed, a set of principles the City Council and the local faith community agreed to in order to work more closely together in the delivery of social welfare and community development projects. Levity managed the campaign on behalf of the BHFA, recruiting the support of over 50% of the faith groups in the city and negotiating the final text.
In 2019, Levity produced 20,000 Street Directories for Sussex Homeless Support, funded by a generous donation from FlexxDigital. These leaflets contain a directory of all the front line services available to homeless people in the city, with a handy Mon-Sun timetable so they can effectively plan their week.
